Helen Howell has been a piper for over fifteen years and enjoyed every minute. She learned to play as a member of world-championship pipe band The High Desert Pipes and Drums in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, also taking private lessons from long-time recognized pipe major Joseph Brennan. She has competed regionally in both band and solo events, performed in a variety of venues both in a group and as a soloist, and has taught beginning pipers for three years. She hopes to provide her students with an appreciation of pipe music in its various forms, excellent technique and understanding of the unique musical skills required, and preparation for local performances and competitions, as requested.
