Biography

Ross Leavitt is known for passionate interpretations of both original saxophone works and transcriptions of music written for other instruments. He completed undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan with Donald Sinta. He has also studied with Timothy McAllister, James Bunte, and David Camwell. 

He won the University of Michigan and Interlochen concerto competitions, was named a Presidential Scholar in the Arts by the White House and a Yamaha Young Performing Artist by Yamaha, was featured in the Metroarts Young Artists Concerto Concert in Portland, Oregon, and was a finalist in the National MTNA Woodwind Competition.

He teaches with a strong emphasis on the fundamentals of tone production, and aims to teach his students to love making music as much as he does.
